About the artwork
In the Meditation Series, a recurring theme of plant forms is explored; reduced to their essence, emphasizing life-forces. This purity of form relates to the quote by modernist sculptor Brancusi, “Simplicity in art is complexity resolved.” The Meditation Series embodies the idea of strengthening the inner self and opening oneself to the world: “it begins with a bud-like form, Meditation, where thinking is focusing and gathering itself as potential. The next form, leaf to fruit, Open Mindedness, expresses the opening of the mind. The last, “sensing form”, Intuition, goes outside itself as thinking becomes intuitive: a bridge between the inner and outer world.
